IP address
The IP (Internet Protocol) address is the number which identifies any hardware (computer, router, printer etc.) which is connected to a network which operates this protocol. It is used for sending data to this address.
The Version 4 IP address, which is currently the most widely used, consists of four numbers between 0 and 255, separated by dots. The Version 6 IP address, which can already be used, is longer and considerably increases the number of possible IP addresses.
