Criminal responsibility of internet service providers (ISPs)

On 27 February 2008 the Federal Council came to the conclusion that the current general regulation in relation to the criminal responsibility of internet providers is sufficient to effectively combat network criminality. A new, explicit regulation would not improve the effectiveness of law enforcement but would only serve the interests of representatives of the provider sector by freeing them of a large proportion of their responsibility in criminal matters.
