Extension of the contract with ombudscom for the telecoms industry’s dispute resolution service

The ombudscom foundation will continue to operate the official dispute resolution service for the telecommunications industry provided for in the Telecommunications Act. The Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) has agreed a new contract with the foundation for the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2028.

In accordance with the provisions of the Telecommunications Act (TCA), the ombudscom foundation has been providing a dispute resolution service in the telecommunications market on behalf of OFCOM since 2008. On the basis of the positive experience of the services provided, OFCOM is entrusting ombudscom with the role of dispute resolution service for a further delegation period until the end of 2028.

The ombudscom foundation operates an independent, impartial and efficient dispute resolution service. It mediates in disputes between customers and providers of telecommunications and value-added services and seeks to reach an out-of-court solution.

The foundation
The founders of the foundation are the telecom companies Salt Mobile SA, Sunrise Communications AG (Sunrise UPC GmbH), Swisscom (Schweiz) AG, UPC Schweiz GmbH (Sunrise UPC GmbH), consumer organisations and the Swiss Association Value-Added Services (SAVASS). The foundation's board is composed of industry representatives, representatives of consumer organisations (ACSI, FRC, kf) and independent persons. It is chaired by Corina Casanova, former Federal Chancellor, while Dr Oliver Sidler acts as ombudsman. OFCOM is responsible for supervising the ombudscom dispute resolution service.
