Bernard Maissen, head of the Media Division at OFCOM since 2018, took up his new post as Director General of the Federal Office of Communications on 1 July 2020.
Bernard Maissen, born in 1961, studied German, History and Journalism at the University of Fribourg, going on to work in various positions as a journalist and senior editor. Before moving to OFCOM in 2018, he was editor-in-chief and a member of the executive board at the Swiss Telegraphic Agency (Schweizerische Depeschenagentur sda). Moreover, Mr Maissen studied management, sat on the programme committee for the Swiss School of Journalism (MAZ) in Lucerne, and from 2013 until joining OFCOM was a member of the Federal Media Commission (FMEC).
