Licences and notifications

Different licences and notifications can be ordered online, either for portable transmitter-receivers or various wireless installations, for amateur radio operators or for fixed satellites, among other things. In the radio sector, it is also possible to apply for a local VHF licence for radio covering a short-term event.

Radiocommunication tests
The test licence allows the licensee to conduct radiocommunication tests (tests and measurements of radiation, propagation measurements, etc.) with a radio installation throughout the development phase of equipment and systems.

Land mobile service
Terrestrial radiocommunication licences authorise holders to use equipment temporarily, portable transmitter-receivers, remote control systems, wireless microphones or devices for locating persons.

Broadcasting
OFCOM grants short-term VHF licences for radio projects of an educational nature, within the framework of youth work or which accompany major public events.

Satellite and microwave radiocommunication
The licences offered here allow frequencies to be obtained for fixed satellite transmissions or for use for a limited time.

The following OFCOM services have been replaced by DETEC eGovernment https://www.uvek.egov.swiss, the central portal for the online government services of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications.

You can no longer make requests on this page. Please use the new DETEC eGovernment portal.

New customers must register on the portal. Registration is via the CH-Login service offered by the Swiss Confederation and is free of charge. The "Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)" section contains the necessary instructions.

Are you already an OFCOM customer but did not have an account on our previous eOFCOM portal? If so, please contact us at kf-fk@bakom.admin.ch before registering and logging on to the new portal for the first time. As soon as we have confirmed this, you will be able to register and make your request.

If you have any questions about the portals, you can also contact OFCOM directly (kf-fk@bakom.admin.ch).

Radiocommunication for amateur radio
The notification entitles to use radio equipment on all amateur radio frequency bands in the following modes: Morse telegraphy, teletype, packet radio, radiotelephony, facsimile and television.

Aeronautical radiocommunication
In aeronautical navigation, the mobile aviation radio service allows ground personnel and personnel onboard aircraft to communicate with each other. Aeronautical radio is used in frequencies beyond the USW band; it is regulated uniformly at a global level, in terms of both language and the frequency range.

Maritime radiocommunication
The use of radiocommunications equipment onboard vessels, whether at sea or on inland waterways, is subject to notification. When the vessel is registered in Switzerland, the licence is issued by OFCOM.
