Maritime radiocommunication

Anyone who uses radiocommunications equipment on a seagoing vessel (pleasure craft and commercial vessels) participates in the international maritime mobile service. The operation of radiocommunications equipment on the high seas is subject to licensing, in accordance with the International Radio Regulations. For vessels entered in the official Swiss registers, the licence is issued by the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM).

Beacons in the maritime service must be properly registered so that, in case of distress at sea, the rescue process works correctly after the EPIRB has been activated.

Only the information notice below is available in English.
Further information (licence application, legal basis, validity of certificates) is available in German, French and Italian. Please click on the desired language above in the Navigation Menu.
