Number of telecommunications service providers

With the liberalisation of the telecommunications market on 1 January 1998, there is no longer a single company providing data, but a multitude of companies of greater or lesser importance. Since 1 April 2007, the broadcasting of programme services has been considered as a telecommunications service.

The table below is a representation of the offering of telecommunication services. It quantifies the operators for each type of categorised services. Since certain operators offer several types of service (Swisscom, Sunrise, etc.), the total is greater than the number of operators providing useable data.
