Management of the .ch internet domain – Switch’s services valued highly
Stakeholders in the internet domain name market in Switzerland are very satisfied with the services Switch provides for managing the .ch internet domain. This is the conclusion of a satisfaction survey conducted by the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) in March 2025. The registry’s key partners rated its various services very highly and expressed no objections to continuing their cooperation with Switch in future.
From 4 to 25 March 2025, OFCOM conducted an online survey of internet domain name registrars, recognised cybercrime prevention authorities and other community stakeholders. The survey found that the services Switch provides under its mandate to manage the .ch internet domain (registry operator function) are valued very highly overall. None of the participants objected to Switch being reappointed as the registry operator. The current delegation period will end on 31 December 2026. OFCOM is now drawing up the requirements for the new delegation period, which will begin on 1 January 2027.
The results in detail
OFCOM invited a total of 165 stakeholders to take part in the survey, including all .ch registrars and a range of authorities, consumer organisations and associations. Forty-three (or 26%) of these responded, broken down as follows:
Participants were asked to rate the various services provided by Switch on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 = very poor / 10 = very good). They could also choose the option ‘Don’t know’. Services related to the registration system’s technical availability and reliability achieved close to the maximum score (9.8 out of 10). Communication received the lowest score, but was still awarded a rating of 8.8.
