Confederation releases new comic on the risks of digitalisation

Biel/Bienne, 14.10.2025 — OFCOM published the fourth issue of its comic series Stories from Everyday Digital Life. In 12 new stories, the fictional Webster family encourages the public to be careful in the networked world. Pupils, teachers, parents and other readers can order print copies of the comic free of charge or download it online at www.websters.swiss. It is published in all four national languages and in English.

Stories from everyday digital life

The six members of the extended Webster family and their friends encounter a wide range of unpleasant situations and dangers in everyday life online – situations that any of us could find ourselves in. The new series covers topics such as deep fakes, sexism in online games, bullying, counterfeit products online, the importance of legal compliance for wireless devices and effective password protection. The adventures of this fictitious family, part of a prevention campaign by a number of federal agencies and the Swiss Crime Prevention organisation, are designed to raise awareness among the Swiss public about the everyday challenges in the digital world.

Comics as a resource for schools and at home

The comic stories can be used in school lessons or privately. They provide a basis for discussion with children and young people on everyday life in the digital world, and offer practical advice and information. OFCOM developed the stories in collaboration with the Federal Social Insurance Office (Youth and Media national platform), Swiss Crime Prevention, the National Cyber Security Centre and Stop Piracy. The comics are published as a print brochure and in digital form in the four national languages and in English. The stories are available at www.websters.swiss and are also published on Instagram. OFCOM worked with the Swiss illustrator Matthias Leutwyler for the visuals.

International distribution

Since 2015, OFCOM and its partners have regularly published new comics about the Webster family, thousands of which are distributed in Swiss schools and used as teaching material. The comics are also a success further afield: for example, all of the issues have been translated into Romanian and are used in prevention work in Romania.

How to order free print copies

The free comics can be ordered from the Federal Office for Buildings and Logistics to be used in schools or displayed in suitable locations and for personal use.
