Broadcasting Directives regulate the dissemination of radio and TV
The Federal Council has issued the new Directives for the dissemination of radio and TV programme services in the long, medium and short-wave bands plus the VHF and UHF bands. As a result, DETEC is now able to release frequencies for broadcasting.
List of events of considerable social significance
Swiss viewers should not have to pay extra to see important (sporting) events. The Federal Department for the Environment, Traffic, Energy and Communications ("DETEC") has adopted the 1st august 2000 a list of events that should remain free-of-charge in our country and should not be offered as "Pay-per-View" TV pro-grammes. This list corresponds closely to the lists drawn up by other countries.
Instructions for VHF network planning
Based on the Law on Radio and Television the instructions for VHF network planning adopted by the Federal Council define the local/regional coverage areas of the individual radio stations and stipulate the number of the respective licensed radio stations.
