Supervisory research
OFCOM regularly commissions empirical analyses of the SRG SSR programme and that of privately licensed radio and TV broadcasters. These focus on whether and how broadcasters fulfil their programme mandates.
OFCOM also regularly uses audience surveys to determine how the public rates the quality of the programmes of licensed broadcasters, how satisfied it is with them and how it assesses their reputation.

SRG SSR oversight
SRG SSR's programming is regularly assessed on the basis of empirical analyses conducted in all language regions and across all distribution channels (television, radio and online). These focus on how SRG SSR fulfils its performance mandate.
Radio
The study is based on constructed week sampling. The content of all programmes broadcast between 5am and midnight is quantitatively assessed. The reports are in German. Management summaries are available in German, French and Italian for all survey years and in English for certain years. This study is currently being conducted by LINK Marketing Services AG.

TV
The assessment is conducted using consecutive day sampling over two weeks. The reports are in German. Management summaries are available in German, French and Italian for all survey years and in English for certain years. Oversight of licensed private radio stations and regional television
Licensed private radio stations' and regional television stations' programming is subject to regular analyses, which focus on how performance mandates are met.
Private radio stations
Licensed private radio stations are analysed during peak broadcasting hours. The study is based on constructed week sampling. A quantitative content analysis is conducted. The study focuses on the core areas of the performance mandates in the licences. Among other things, it provides an analysis of the diversity of topics, players and forms of informative programmes, as well as of their regional relevance. The reports are in German. Management summaries are available in German, French and Italian for all survey years and in English for certain years. This study is currently being conducted by Publicom AG.

Regional television
All licensed regional television programming undergo quantitative content analyses. The assessment is conducted on the basis of two constructed week samples. Audience survey
The survey sample is selected at random and is representative of the population aged 15 and over in the coverage areas of licensed Swiss radio and television broadcasters. Every year, around 3,600 interviews are conducted in German-, French- and Italian-speaking Switzerland. The reports are in German.
