Telecommunications services offered by satellite relate to the provision of internet access and telephony. Until 2008, the number of subscriptions was insignificant. Since 2008, Swisscom has been obliged to offer broadband access to all its customers under the terms of the universal service. When a DSL connection is not possible, the operator offers internet access by satellite.
