Equipment which does not have to be notified

The following equipment must not be notified (art. 9 para 1 TIO):

Equipment according the two lists published by the European commission

  • Subclasses of Class 1 and
  • Subclasses of Class 2

Additional exempted equipment in Switzerland

  • Radiocommunications equipment imported by an individual or legal entity for his own needs and used at non-commercial purposes in so far as the quantity does not exceed 4 units of the same type.
  • Radiocommunications equipment which is not subject to conformity assessment and marking as indicated in article 16 TIO.

Radio transmitters, using harmonised frequencies in Switzerland and several EU countries; Base stations of licensed services

  • CB, Radio equipment operating in the 27 MHz frequency range, 40 channels, FM 4 W according CEPT PR 27 or AM 4W / SSB 12W.
  • Amateur radio equipment.
  • Ground equipment of aeronautical radio guidance service used for traffic safety.
  • GSM base stations (GSM-R, GSM-P, GSM-E; GSM-1800).
  • Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) operating on 406.0 MHz to 406.025 MHz, 121.5 MHz and 243 MHz.
  • VSAT 4 / 6 / 11 / 12 / 14 GHz equipment.
