Universal service

The purpose of the universal service is to guarantee that a basic telecommunications services offer is made available to all sections of the population and in all the regions of the country. These services must be affordable, reliable and of a certain quality. The universal service includes telephony, telefax, data transmission, broadband internet connections, access to the emergency services, public payphones and the provision of special services for the disabled.

Added-value service numbers 0900, 0901, 0906

The Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) allocates 0900, 0901 and 0906 numbers individually. Holders of these numbers can offer a service which is paid for by the caller via a supplement to the connection charge. Additional information on the use of these numbers can be found here.

SR 784.101.113/1.3 Emergency call requirement

This document is part of the Technical and Administrative Regulations for routing and identifying the location of emergency calls (SR 784.101.113 / 1.3). It contains the geographical distribution of the coverage areas of the rescue services and routing numbers for routing emergency calls.
