Definition

The operation of equipment for receiving radio/television programmes is subject to registration. Registration with Billag AG must be made in advance.

Beginning of the obligation to register

The preparation and operation of equipment for the reception of radio/television programmes is subject to registration.

Example: the purchase of the first radio or television implies an obligation to register.

Changes to circumstances with regard to the obligation to register

Changes in circumstances with regard to the obligation to register must be communicated in writing to Billag AG. In particular, these include notification of cessation of operation of receiving equipment and moving into a household which is subject to the payment of fees and which is already registered.

End of the obligation to register

Cessation of operation must be communicated to Billag AG in writing. The obligation to pay fees and hence the obligation to register terminates on the last day of the month in which cessation of operation is notified. Notification concerning a retroactive cessation is null and void.

Example: the equipment no longer works and is not replaced by other equipment. Billag AG must be notified.
